The Sequoia Committee is now recruiting club members and friends to work on the 2008 Sequoia. We are counting on your support, and are asking you to sign up for one or more of the following positions. We will need about 220 workers to support our club century. A workers’ ride and a barbecue are being planned, and there will be gifts for all workers.

Please indicate your interest by ranking your first choice of job with the number 1, your second choice as number 2, and so on. In addition, please let us know in advance the best time for you to work by marking your choice in the appropriate box. Early morning means 5:30 am.

RANKWHENDESCRIPTION OF TASK
March, April & May RECRUITING: Contact club members to volunteer.
April & May REGISTRATION: Process registration forms received by mail. (Filled)
Sat 5/31 afternoon CREDENTIALS PICK-UP: Noon-4 pm at Bicycle Outfitter, Los Altos
April & May SIGNS: Confirm location of and produce signs to be placed on existing frames.

ROUTE MARKING: Mark routes (5/29–5/31); pick up signs (6/1 afternoon & evening).

TRANSPORTATION: 5/30: Pick up vehicles, load locker contents; 5/31: pick up food, transport supplies to VA, unload rest stop supplies; 6/1: unload supplies for VA in early am, reload after 6 pm; 6/2: return supplies to locker, return vehicles.
Must be available Saturday 5/31 FOOD: Shop for food; help transport from point of purchase and distribute to rest stop captains; some planning work during May.

DESCRIPTION OF TASK
REGISTRATION: Set up tables, assign numbers, hand out route sheets, etc. or check out at the end of ride.
SITE: Set up, parking, signage. Help whoever needs anything, set up/dismantle the site, clean up. Operate rest stop during the day. We need workers 5–7pm to help load supplies into a truck for return to the locker, and a few people to support late arrivals (6–8pm).
REST STOPS: Set up location, set out food, fill water jugs, and clean up. This position fills up very quickly.
FIRST AID: Assist riders as needed. Serious injuries are turned over to Paramedics. When not administering aid, you will be part of the Rest Stop crew. Some work during May to refill kits.
BIKE MECHANIC: Help riders with minor bike repair problems at VA and rest stops.
SAFETY: Help with directing riders; alert riders of dangerous conditions.
SAG: Driver works with radio communications to patrol the route and assist riders. Car with bike racks, truck, or station wagon preferred.
Saturday June 7 WORKERS’ RIDE: Provide support for rides—SAG, food, etc.
June 1–8 WORKERS’ PICNIC: Pick up food at VA on evening of 6/1, shop for food during the week, set up, cook, clean-up on Sunday, 6/8

Workers who complete their assignment before the Sequoia or at the Workers Ride/BBQ may ride any route at no charge; however, they should still fill out an entry form.
